Peer Review Process
Corresponding authors must clearly specify their particular area of expertise among the five published on our website under the Editorial Board by each of the two Associate Editors when submitting the manuscript (AE) and if none of the five Associates is appropriate, the author must indicate which of the 21st Century Pathology sectors (immunology mechanisms, viral immunology, non-specific immunotherapies, vaccines, and immunomodulators, as indicated on the scope and aims) his/her paper falls under, as well as which of the remaining Editorial Board Members (EBM) falls under the expert knowledge category for his/her submission. If no members of the Editorial Board are stated, the paper will be submitted by the Managing Editor (ME) to the Editor in Chief (EIC) along with a ranking according to four indicators: the number of SCI best articles (10 over 10 deciles) as first and last author, the total H-index, and the total number of Science Citation Index publications irrespective of deciles, with the paper being rejected if this last indicator is zero.
Authors must nominate two referees from among those assembled and constantly updated in terms of their total H index, patent index, prototypes, and total impact factor normalized by the average number of co-authors and author position to be added to the list of experts in the selected fields nominated by ME and AE. Following the recommendations of the AE and/or EBM and/or referees, selected papers are eventually accepted by the EIC in terms of adherence to the 21st Century Pathology editorial policies for the submitted papers as defined in the 21st Century Pathology scope, aims, and topics.
Following the recommendations of the AE and/or EBM and/or referees, selected papers are finally accepted by the EIC in terms of adherence to the 21st Century Pathology's editorial policies for the submitted papers as defined in the 21st Century Pathology scope, aims, and topics.
